I use WIRES-X pretty regularly. I run a node through my FTM-100 at my house. I mostly have it in Direct mode, which connects the radio directly to the PC - so no RF. I also use it in the RF mode and I am usually able to get into my node from my mobile out to 5 miles or so from the house on JBAB. I use my FT-3D HT to access the node within about 2 miles. I have it set to 147.420 Simplex with no tone. K3MRC runs a node in Upper Marlboro that I can hit from my QTH and usually works within about 10 miles of the station. He runs it on 145.430. Locally, there aren’t a lot of repeater based options around for Wires-X.
I usually listen in on America Link #21080 or Texas Nexus #21636. America Link is like REF030C on DSTAR. On Monday’s there is also the KANSAS-CITY-WIDE (#28054) POTA Net at 8pm EST. Josh from Ham Radio Crash Course has a Quadnet reflector which is on DMR, YSF, DSTAR, and Wires-X. On Wires-X it is #61221. Reach out If you have other questions.

Jason
