Howard and Jim have been invited to speak to many organizations about how to
learn and have fun with CW.  Howard has been a ham since 1965 when he was 13
years old.  After over 55 years of as a ham, he still enjoys CW the most as
a ham.  Jim  was licensed in 1996 while in the Air Force.  He retired from
the Air Force in 2015 with over 30 years of service and finally found the
time to upgrade his license to Extra Class and to improve his CW. His goal
was to comfortably rag-chew in CW.  

 

The Long Island CW Club <https://longislandcwclub.org/>  (W2LCW) was formed
in 2018 by Howard  (WB2UZE) and Richard Collins (K2UPS) responding to an
interest they saw in CW. One of their main goals was to make CW fun to
learn.  Richard's K2UPS callsign is no coincidence because he drove for UPS
for over 30 years, which he celebrates with his callsign.  Richard has over
100,000 lookups on QRZ.  Since the club was founded, it has grown to over
1400 members worldwide, with over 70 classes a week via Zoom, including kids
and ladies classes.  The club's success  can also be found in its
significant presence and popularity across the Internet via YouTube videos,
blogs and other mentions.
