[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] Need some help

Fellow club members,
History:
Despite having my General ticket for one year, I am really clueless about pretty much everything to do with HR.  I bought a Yaesu FT-60 about a year ago but because I live in Lorton and away from repeaters, I haven't been able to make any contacts.  

Thanks to Don (KI4D), I recently purchased a DBJ-2 portable antenna, which I hung on a plastic coat hanger and in my second story townhouse window, but I still can't seem to make any contacts, though I was able to listen in on a conversation once or twice.  

When I purchased my Yaesu H/T, I also purchased R/T Systems programming software so I could upload to my H/T repeaters and all info.  This seems to have not had much, if any, difference.  I've gotten out the H/T manual, but I just don't have the background knowledge to make much sense of it.  

What I'm asking for:
Help!  Is there a club member who is familiar with the Yaesu FT-60 and hopefully R/T Systems software who would be willing to come to my home and help me set up my H/T and get me started?
