For those not interested in the George Washington's Birthday Parade on
Monday February 18, 2019 I apologize.

The parade details are attached in the PDF file.

Our time table is to meet at the Alexandria FIRE TRAINING CENTER behind the
Nanny J. Lee Rec Center. This is where we keep the club trailer.

We will meet at 9AM to make assignments and get organized.

Assignments as follows

We will need three people to work APRS/PACKET/AREDN at the reviewing stand.
Jack and Ian have already volunteered for this so I need ONE more.

We will need two portable APRS operators who are willing to walk with the
start and end of the parade. If you have a Kenwood TMD 72 or 74 that would
work well. Just in case we don't pick you up below are the KEY reporting
points. We will set up on 444.6 SIMPLEX for the APRS voice so as not to
crash the 144.39 APRS signals. I will try to have a laptop showing the APRS
map but I don't think they will allow us to put it on the reviewing stand,
so we will have to pass the report to the reviewing stand verbally.

As to the reporting I want to know:

*	When the lead parade unit crosses the start point (on Fairfax at
Gibbon Streets, going North). The lead unit is the Alexandria Police
Department Motorcycle Escort.
*	When the lead parade unit crosses Duke Street going North (in other
words, on the first leg of the parade).
*	When the lead parade unit crosses Duke Street going South (in other
words, on the last leg of the parade).
*	When the last parade unit crosses the start point (on Fairfax at
Gibbon Streets, going North).
*	When the last parade unit crosses Duke Street going South (in other
words, on the last leg of the parade).
*	When the last parade unit crosses Duke Street going South (in other
words, on the last leg of the parade).
*	Any parade unit that is stopped or stalled along the parade route.
*	Any emergency where police, fire, or EMS units enter the parade
route.

I may need someone about the mid-point to put up an AREDN relay. I have the
unit but we will need to put it up on a pole and have someone to make sure
it stays up. The unit runs on AC so I will find an inverter and car
battery, so a car would be called for. Will also need to put the antenna up
on a mast.

We will have two operators in the Trailer at Parade start area. Rich KA4GFY
will be lead on the trailer but we need one other to help with voice comms.
Packet and AREDN knowledge would be helpful

The rest of us will work with the parade Marshalls. CAP cadets will
organize the divisions and report to our operators those units that have
dropped out, been added or any changes in the division order. WE will
bring that to the Trailer and make changes to the order of march and send it
via AREDN or Packet to the reviewing stand.

Those working with the Marshalls will be on 147.315 SIMPLEX

The overall net to the reviewing stand and the Trailer will be on the
146.655 repeater.

Assignments will be dependent on who and how many volunteers we have.

9AM all amateur radio volunteers at the FIRE TRAINING CENTER. Talk in will
be on 147.315.

Parking is limited at parade start so we will need to car pool to parade
start. Reviewing stand and ARDEN operators will go directly to their
assigned spots.

10:30 LATEST to be on site.

11 AM Police close the roads, we need to be IN PLACE NO LATER THEN.

11 AM is also the time for the parade staff briefing.

12:00 Units begin to organize

12:45 LATEST TIME we can get the changes and provide them to the trailer.
The Marshalls should give you a legible mark up of their orders of march.
We will need to combine the changes and send to the Reviewing Stand. The
Divisions DO NOT step off as a division, so we need to integrate first. If
changes need to be made AFTER 1PM START of PARADE we will send them by
voice.

Parade STARTS at 1PM SHARP

Parade ENDS about 2:30 and then we will meet back at the Fire Training
Center and decide where to go for a late lunch.
