During the weekly ARC net last night KC7OVS, David, mentioned that the ISS
would fly over our area about 9:00 this morning creating an opportunity to
monitor their ham radio transmissions. I thought this might be an
excellent opportunity to take out my portable SATCOM station and give it a
try. I was able to monitor the transmissions, but I missed the first few
minutes because of a broken BNC to SMA connector. Still, I thought the
results is worth sharing. The attached audio file is what I listened to on
my little ID-51, hearing ISS transmissions from 254 miles away. Also
attached is a photo of my SATCOM station setup; in the photo Ben, Steve
Wagner's (W8RJH) son, is setting it up during our last Field Day. The
following is the published information about this morning's transmissions.
