Greg,
You are most welcome to join any of our nets. Information on the club nets
is on www.w4hfh.org The 2 meter net meets on 147.315 with a standard +
offset and the PL tone is 107.2 at 8 pm Thursdays -- this is not a Simplex
net-- it uses our repeater. Be warned, 2.5 watts may not successfully
trigger the repeater from southern Fairfax county. (I live in Burke in a
fairly dense housing area about 14 miles from the repeater and it takes
about 50 watts for me to hit the repeater reliably with a J-Pole antenna in
the attic). When KK4CKJ was living in Manassas, he told me he needed 80
watts to hit the repeater from his home and he lived about 10 blocks north
of the Manassas city center. Your results may vary.....

I am scheduled to be the Net Control this evening and will listen for a
KJ4DGE call sign.

As to membership, our fees are only $20 and you can join at any time during
the year.

I would like to discuss further your interest in writing about the club. As
a former club secretary I believe our historical records are spotty and that
several of our members hold most of the corporate history in their heads. A
well-written club history might be invaluable to future members of the club.

Hi all,

I am interested in checking into this net if what past traffic on email is
correct. Have not been on VHF for a long while as no hardware until
recently, (HT). Still I am interested to see how far I can get on 2.5 watts
from southern FF cnty with no brick. Also would like to join the club but
currently have no money for dues so not sure if I can be of any help there.
I do write articles on Eham and perhaps the club would like some historical
exposure in an article. here is some of my past and present stuff. In
writing about the Alex club would need a good elmer on club from all
members. Think it might be a fun read maybe?

Anyway Don, KI4D knows me and I guess can vouch for me in a way. would like
to get back into some local simplex routine nets/ragchew etc.. Thanks.
