Interesting piece on public safety communications at Fairfax County Fire and Rescue I found on Radio Reference.com.

The big take away from this is Fairfax Fire and Rescue is requiring clear, concise communications within the fire department.  Keep it short and get off the air.  Drop some ambiguous words and phrases.

Also, notice how they are getting rid of the "Engine X to Fairfax."  They are adopting the same protocol we use, aviation uses and the military uses, i.e. "Fairfax from Engine X."
