Here's some more info from Arnal N9ACC. Other sources for the 2600mAh
battery include

119

which looks to be the same size as the stock battery so should drop into the
charger fine. Bottom line - don't get used hamfest specials when high
capacity new batteries are available at these prices!

Ian,

The battery you sent out is the lowest capacity battery I see being
sold at 1200 mAh. The link below is for an 1800 mAh battery, albeit from
Hong Kong (20 day delivery time, +/-), FREE Shipping cost for $17. I have
received mine, and can confirm it is marked with the batwing "M" on both the
battery case AND the belt clip, as shown. The inside label clearly shows
MOTOROLA and that is a NiCd, not NiMH..

1) Original Motorola marked and labeled.

2) New manufacture. It has a manufacturing sticker on it with date code
for manufacture last month.

3) The belt clip is a hooking-type. Bottom end is hooked to keep the radio
from being pushed up and off the belt by accident (bump, sitting in a chair
or car, etc.).

  A) The clip attachment to the battery is metal (better), not plastic as
many are.

  B) Not all replacement batteries come with ANY belt clip,

  C) Some that do have a straight bottom end, prone to being pushed up and
off the belt, and 3) are less than this 1800 mAh.

The largest capacity I have found is 2600 mAh, so I bought one of
those, too. $16.48 +$5.99 shipping from inside the US (5 days).

This one comes with a straight-bottom belt clip, but it is interchangeable
with the battery from above! Just got it yesterday and have swapped the
clips.

Now I have three batteries for the radio I bought at the Hamfest. The
one that came with it is 16 months old now (i.e,. not very old, but over a
year). All these batteries fit in the (after market, but nothing special)
charger I got with the radio. (Unlike my Motorola HT1250 VHF radio where
the batteries can be charged (i.e., held in) without the radio, The GTX
charger I have requires the battery to be attached to the radio to hold it
in place for charging.)

Also, here is a source ("more than 10 available) for the long ( a "full
size center-fed dipole" at only 7"!) antenna like mine for $13.49 + FREE
shipping from in the US. This says it is the correct one for 900 MHz, and
the part number listed is correct for 900 MHz, but an after-market, not
Motorola. Says it ends on Monday, but I suspect he will extend it unless he
sells them all. (One short antenna covers both the 800 AND 900 MHz bands.)

For those with a Motorola GTX-900 handheld, here's the stock 1200 mAh
replacement battery:

-series/hnn9628b-nicd-1200-mah-7-5.html

There are other resellers who might be cheaper.

There may be higher capacity Ni-Cd batteries out there that will fit the
radio - not so sure about the drop-in charger though!
