August 11
Art and Deanna
andlutz at comcast.net
Mon Aug 7 19:57:35 EDT 2006
Emily Clarke, N1DID (yes, an adopted member of my DID hamily) will be our
special guest this month. Emily is a member of the AMSAT Board of Directors,
AMSAT Area Coordinator for Northern and Central California, web master of
Project Oscar ( www.projectoscar.net ) as well as AMSAT ( www.amsat.org )
and a whole slew of other fun stuff.
Working the Satellites is Easy! Emily will show you how simple it truly can
be! She will be giving a demo outside the Fire Training Center working an
AO-7 pass that is due about 7:20. Come early and see how easy the equipment
can be. You don't need a large earth station to get on the birds, but who
wouldn't love that?! After a short business meeting, Emily will continue
with her program for the evening inside. For those that can to stick around,
we may even make some more satellite QSOs after the meeting. Who knows...you
may even get on the air!
This Friday's meeting is sure to be fun so don't miss out. Please join us
for dinner at the Chicken Out on Washington Street in Olde Towne Alexandria
about 6:15 then at the Fire Training Center in the rear of the Nannie J. Lee
Community Center off Jefferson Street for the demo before the Meeting. (Link
to a map and directions may be found at www.w4hfh.org)
