Good morning group,

There are a few of us who will be out and about for the Parks On The Air
Support Your Parks Weekend.

Hudson Spillers, KL4LJ, is going to be hiking the Hatcher Pass area
Friday Night and Saturday morning to activate some SOTA peaks. Keep an
ear on 146.52 for him - it is VERY difficult to activate SOTA up here,
so we need to support these activities. From the peaks he has planned he
should be in range of even Kenai and Soldotna.

I'm going to make another attempt at a POTA "Warthog Award", activating
five parks in a single UTC day. Friday evening at 1600 (UTC midnight)
I'll be up at Turnagain Pass (and out of VHF range), but on Saturday
morning I'll be in the Anchorage bowl operating 6 M, 2 M, 70 cm, and 23
cm from local parks. Keep an ear out for me calling on 146.52, and I'll
also plan to check into the morning net.

One caveat is that if HF band conditions are good then I may attempt to
operate through Friday night instead of packing it in. That would give
me time to activate up to ten parks, if everything goes well. (I would
be roving through the Mat-Su).

Any VHF/UHF contacts the group can provide are hugely helpful - for POTA
a change of band or mode counts as a new contact, and then quicker I can
get to 10 contacts the quicker I can move on to the next site.
Theoretically, if I was in range of another operator with four VHF bands
and FM/SSB capability then I could rack up eight contacts in just a few
minutes, as opposed to an hour or more waiting on FT8.

I'll post to the list on Friday evening when I know what the plan is and
I'm back in cell service.
