Hello group,

Ed and I did some testing after the net this morning and had excellent results using PSK31 on 50.250 MHz.

I'm in midtown Anchorage and usually can't work Ed's location in Nikiski on voice. Both sites are too low in elevation, there are trees in the way, etc.

Using PSK31 we had perfect copy the whole time. The narrowband properties of that mode really helped boost signal strengths and made conversation easy.

The hardware requirements are identical to what you need for modes like FT8, so if you can run that on HF then you already have what you need. Your tuner might already be able to get you on 6 M.

We were using fldigi software, which is tricky to set up but works great once it's running. Feel free to reach out to me if you want some assistance getting set up, or doing tests on-air. And keep an eye to the mailing list for future digital operating.

Brandon Clark, KL7BSC
