Net will begin at 9:30 am on 144.200 USB and I also monitor 223.50 FM
Been a busy week: got two new driven elements replacing 22-year old
one's that had failed. Kind of tricky sliding steel keepers on the
elements while standing on top of ten foot step ladder. Cut new
shorter phasing lines and installed four connectors with result that
now have 1.2 SWR on both Horizontal and Vertical polarity on my four
yagi 2m eme array. Got it cranked back to tower top today in the rain!
I think I solved the TR relay issue from last week by splicing TR
control line eliminating and old rusty terminal strip. 120w forward
with 1w reflected (about 1.2 SWR). Ran into an apparent coax line
problem with my Hpol preamp so temp have combined its output to the
Vpol coax via a tee (by only powering one preamp which allows me to
switch Rx polarity; this does load down the output from showing S3
noise floor to S2; both preamps have 25 dB+ gain so dropping output
6-dB has no affect on sensitivity). I will find out during the net
and have the FT-736R as backup, if needed.
Been making some 6m FT8 contacts as far south as OR and hearing into
SE US (AL). CQ VHF Contest on 6m was total bust - no signals outside
of the Kenai Penin. Missed working AL7JX, sorry!
Join us for the net tomorrow!
