I forgot to say that Saturday, Sept. 12 is the MARA Hamfest which
many of you may attend. Activity for the contest can shift to Sunday
as a result.

I may opt to cancel the Sept. 12 Saturday morning net (haven't
decided), and concentrate on 2m-eme on Saturday (if Moon is up). EME
and meteor scatter contacts count in the ARRL VHF Contests.

---------------
EME typically involves large antenna arrays and high power, but ms
can be done with moderate sized antennas and power (on 6m: 3-element
yagi and 100w, for example). Almost all new HF radios have 6m with
100w! So all you need is an antenna. Even just a dipole will work
DX in an opening. I suggest looking at the Moxon which has the gain
of a two-element yagi. Or get a larger 6m yagi (five-element are not
that large or expensive). Many HF beams work on 6m, as well.

Much of AK is within range of ms (even Whitehorse, YT is only 600
miles from Anchorage). MS range limit is considered 1300
miles. Several 6m stations in the Vancouver, BC area are within that
range (I worked VE7TOM on 6m FT8 during FD, and I run 80w to a
3-element yagi). Yellow Knife, NWT is 1200 miles from
Anchorage. Ketchikan is 700-miles.

Food for thought! July 18-19 is the CQ VHF Contest which will bring
out a lot of operation on 6m (and 2m).
