Very interesting write up on this year's January VHF Contest.

I noted in the club standings the bottom 17 clubs ran 3 to 6 log
entries! As a club we can certainly challenge that if more would
enter their logs. We ranked ahead of three other clubs this
time. Three entries is the minimum to be recognized as a club.

Individual scores are recognized by ARRL Section so not hard to win a
certificate for 1st place in the AK Section. I've done it several
times (mostly because I submitted a log). There are several classes
in the ARRL VHF Contests and you can win the FM-only Award! Rovers
get awards! High power and low power awards.

Maybe you do the contests just for the "FUN" of enjoying the extra
activity! I think that motivates most of us "Up here"! If you run
FT8 in contest mode your log will automatically be saved and entered
to a Cabrillo form. I do mainly paper logging so just transcribe
that to the Cabrillo form using the link on the contest page of the
AK VHF-UP Group website.

I believe many popular ham log programs will transfer to making a
Cabrillo log. But you can just download the paper log forms and use
a pencil/pen.

Hoping the June stats for AK show more activity. This fall I am
likely to go roving to Diamond Ridge above Homer to operated many
bands (maybe even 10-GHz if a partner can be found in Anchorage.

Thanks to all who "came out" for the contest! And don't forget the
9:30 am Saturday 2m Net.
