Good turnout:
KL7XJ - S8 on the vertical/FT736R, S7 on the yagi array (pointed
south); Dale using his tower-mounted eggbeater omni
KL7XJ - S4 on the vertical/FT-736R: Dale using his yagi pointed to Anchorage
KL4E - S7 on vert, S8 on array
KL6M - S7 on vert, S4 on array
WL7AU - heard (no copy) on vert, no copy on array
Noise floor using eme preamp with yagi array = S5; quiet band
averages S3/4 noise.
ARX-270 dual-band vertical was moved to SW end of the house from the
NE end (garage) last spring to do driveway work. Vertical is mounted
15 foot above ground with tip at 32-foot. Coax run was shortened by
half by making the move. I might side-mount the vertical at 30-foot
on my tower-2 next summer with 50-foot 1/2-inch Heliax run. Tip would
be 4-foot below my triband HF beam.
-11F during the net; now -1F; calm and clear skies
