The net will begin at 9:30 am on 144.200 USB. I also monitor 223.50
FM, simultaneously.
Brandon-KL7BSC plans to hike to top of the Butte (near Palmer) to
activate SOTA (Summits on the Air) using a FT-817 (5w) and a
vertical. Should be workable by many in the Anchorage/Valley
area. He needs several contacts to qualify for SOTA. Hopefully new
snow will not present too much a problem for the hike. He plans to
be on at the beginning of the net. After doing 2m-SSB he is also
going to be on HF for SOTA.
I will run 125w to my 4-yagi array (at 52-feet) using my FT-736R
(without preamp). This seems to work well for most stations.
I may test a recently repaired preamp using my vertical to separate
radio, but the yagi's usually do better in receive with 10 dB more gain.
