[AK-VHF] NET & Contest - 9 June - 144.200

Hi all,

I had fun in the contest, although I had to cut it short due to antenna
issues. I think that water good into the driven element on the 70 cm yagi.
There just wasn't enough activity to make it worth doing the Kenai run, so
I called it a day yesterday. I primarily use these events to test get, and
I was able to do that so I'm happy.

I'm thinking about a different approach for the September event. Trying to
activate those two northern grids kicks my butt. It's too much driving and
only one or two stations who can even reach up that far. I'm thinking that
a rover route might be more practical once we get more stations using 6m
and digital modes up here. That would out more stations in range, and make
the trip worth the drive time. For September I'll probably go singe
operator portable and work from a fixed location above Anchorage or Eagle
River.
