Hello everyone,
My name is Brandon Clark, KL7BSC, and I'm new to Alaska and the VHF+
group. Back in Ca I was pretty active with the ARRL VHF contests over
the last two years. I would always set up a hilltop-portable station
with homebrew long-boom yagis and run 5 W from my Yaesu 817. I was still
too new to the game to rack up big scores, but it was a great test of my
emcom gear and I had a lot of fun making contacts.
Right now I'm still reassembling gear (just moved in Dec), but it's
coming along. I'm planning to participate in the June and September ARRL
contests. I'll probably camp out on a high spot in June and go roving in
September. I'm hoping to try the CQ VHF contest as well, and will
probably do a backpack-portable entry. I would also like to try the ARRL
222 MHz and up contest if there is activity for it. This year I should
be getting 220 MHz and 1.2 GHz gear for the first time. Fun stuff ahead!
73,
Brandon
