Brandon,

Good to see you on the net this morning. I hadn't read my e-mail
before net. Your FT-817 with 5w to vertical worked (S9) fine from
the trailhead area (as I would expect). In my former work, I
maintained a VHF repeater located in Glenn Alps subdivision that is
another mile down the road from the SP parking area and I could see
Tesoro plant from there. I'm located only 2-mi SE of the
plant. Diamond Ridge (1100-foot ASL) is near line-of-sight from
Chugach SP (150mi path).

KL7XJ checked in toward end of the net and was copying your signal in
Kenai (he is very near the college on west side of Kenai River).

My 2m noise level went to S7 which made Dale's S7 signal (90-degrees
off point of my yagi array when pointed to Anchorage) difficult to
hear so I switched to the FT-847 connected to my 17-foot 10-dBi
vertical and he was S5 over S1 noise (no preamp). Had no other
stations check-in.

Good to know that KL7AA will have a good VHF+ station. Hope we can
encourage participation on the net and in contests.
