Solved control issue for the Elecraft KXPA100.  It has two power-pole connectors, but only the lower one is controllable by the KX3.  The other is power for accessories.  That now allows remote power on/off, antenna change, and atu functions.

I monitored 50.125 today hearing nothing and called CQ a few times.  Leaving Whitehorse I heard some voices on 146.52, briefly.  I need a frequency list for the 2m repeater network that the Yukon clubs have put together.

We'll try on both 50.125 and 144.200 as we get further south into BC.

heading south on Cassiar Hwy tomorrow and next day.

Hi Ed,

Good luck resolving that problem.

I didn't mention it in my other message, but we also copied the VY1DX 50 MHz beacon located in Whitehorse during the opening the other day. So, you just missed out. Drive safely.

We
are in Whitehorse, tonight.  I tried running my  100w amp
with the new ATU board and doesn't appear to turn on the
PA, so I reconnected using simple Tx key line.  But KX3 Rx
does not make much noise??  I ran the KX3 ATU and it
matched the Larson 1/4 WL whip to 1:1.  The amp is buried
under the  back seat under a full load of stuff for the new
trailer which we will pick up on May24 in Fife.  So
checking the amp is a big chore requiring unloading half the
back seat (which is up to level of seat backs).  I will try
to make a test before getting underway in the morning.
Heading to Watson Lake, YT by night.  I  will monitor
50.125 - hope for the best.

Arrive Fife May23 - staying at Extended Stay Hotel in
Fife.

Hello All,

Stations in the "lower-48" have been experiencing
bits of sporadic-E propagation since the first of May, but
yesterday we observed the effects of geomagnetic storming as
a result of increased solar wind streaming from a big
coronal hole on the sun. Yesterday, we in the Pacific
Northwest took advantage of widespread E openings across
North America which included contacts with stations in the
Caribbean and Alaska. I worked KL7NO, KL7KY and KL7HBK.

As I type this message, the band is opening again for us in
the Seattle area. We are hoping to have such good conditions
as we had yesterday as the geomagnetic storm continues.
Maybe we'll hear some of you as the opening swings up to
the northwest again this afternoon/evening.

PS, I hope you are all in the process of getting ready for
the June contest!
