Ron,

There are three hamfests in AK that I am aware of:
May is MARA in Matanuska-Susitna Valley (usually Wasilla or Big
Lake), Fairbanks in July-August, and Kenai Peninsula which moved to
September last year. My impression all are small affairs with under
100 attendance (50?) so would probably be better described as ham
flea markets when compared to conferences held in the
lower-48. Definitely not even close to Seapac.

The Pacific NW VHF Society often holds a conference in fall (usually
Oct.) which is oriented to VHF and draws up to 100 from several
states and Provinces. WA and OR have quite few local hamfest but I
have never attended so unable to advise on. It is a Friday evening
pizza feed and all day conference on Saturday.

The big VHF conferences are Central States VHF which will be in
Rochester, MN (July), Microwave Update in St. Louis (Oct.), MO and
the super VHF conference this April in Dulles, VA near Wash. DC.

I wanted to attend the super conference which a combination of three
or four Eastern conferences joined for this year only. My wife nixed
that. So I am holding out for maybe CSVHF or PNWVHF, but might not
make either as we are spending a lot on her son and daughter-in-law
bringing up for a two-week vacation (on our dime). I could buy a
super top-end Ham rig for what we will spend...but we are looking
forward to them coming up. We get almost no visitors from out of state.

I will forward your inquiry on the PNWVHF reflector to see what
response is (will list your e-mail for direct reply). If you decide
on any I have mentioned let us know on the list as I am certain many
of us would love to meet you and your family.
