Gray day and it stayed 30 all day! At 11pm Saturday its raining in
Nikiski at 30F.
Good turn out for the net on 146.52 FM:
NL7OW - S8 (audio was low at first until Tom adjusted it)
KL4E - was a bit noisy at the start of the net but later was S9 full
quieting; Craig was opening the squelch in the VX-6R that I transmit
with - mainly I use the eme array to listen.
KL7XJ - S9
KL6M - S9+15
WL7AU - S8 difficult copy today
KL7RHJ - mobile in Kenai
Except for Chip I was hearing signals in both radios though better
with the eme array. It tells me if I add another 11-element yagi I
would probably not need to use the eme array for FM reception.
Also hearing that KL4E is running 20w to a discone (typical gain of
6dB) comes in almost always with a good signal reinforces what i have
been saying for a long time (add a preamp if you want to hear long
distance). I was transmitting 150w into an 11-element yagi at
45-feet which should be easy for most everyone in Anchorage to hear -
yet many do not.
OK, well next week the net will be on 144.200 USB.

PS: new tower for 6m yagi is up - next is installing rotator and then
the antenna.
