I climbed up to make connections today and seems to be working. A
problem is the color-coding on the control wires had faded in
sunlight making some uncertainty in connections.
I'm not sure if the ARR preamp had the RF sensing ckt functional but
it seems to work whether I power it or not??
All repeater signals are way too strong (s-meter maxed) even with the
preamp in bypass so guess it will take some simplex signals to tell
how well it is doing. SWR<1.4 across the full 2m band and 1.08 at
the top end. With full charge on the VX6-R HT I am getting 35-40w
output with the Mirage amp. The yagi is not level and kind of
elevated about 5-degrees when I first installed it. I didn't attempt
to fix this today so it will take another trip up the tower. Even so
i get about S3/4 on the Homer repeater 70mi south of me with the
antenna pointed toward Anchorage (az=45 vs az=170 for Homer). The
yagi is fixed on the tower - not rotatable and should favor
Wasilla-Big Lake, but wide enough beam for the entire metro area.
I may try it out tonight on the simplex net.
