Nice sunny day, yesterday, so I put up a ten foot long crossboom on
the face of my tower #2 at 45-feet.
I hung an eleven element KLM yagi (half of a KLM-22C satellite
antenna), and mounted a ARR MSP144VDG-160 switched GasFet
preamp. Still have to install coax jumper and dc wiring for it to be
functional.

This antenna looks at roughly az=45 toward Anchorage with 13 dBd gain
(roughly the same as one of my eme yagis), but is wideband covering
144-148 MHz.

Pretesting on a 10-foot mast on my back deck:
144.200 fwd=30w, ref=2w SWR=1.7
146.52 fwd=30w, ref=1.5w SWR=1.6
147.000 fwd=25w, ref=0.5w SWR=1.3
147.93 fwd=25w, ref=0.5w SWR=1.3

This will be my dedicated FM simplex antenna which should support
running up to 150w. Day-to-day use will be 30w with the Yaesu VX6-R
HT and Mirage B108 amp. I expect signals will be ten-dB better than
using my ARX-270 vertical due shorter coax, more antenna gain and
being higher. It may still be about 3-dB less than using my eme array.
