[AK-VHF] Simplex Net - tonight

Sun finally came out so I could climb the tower to fix the TR line to
the relays. I borrowed one of the four ground wires to eliminate the
broken green wire. That fixed control to the TR relays (one each for
222 and 432). I tested 432 good with both MFJ analyzer and RF from
the transverter (26w out < 1w reflected). I have not tested the 222
but that was working before.

I have a preamp running on 222 but the 432 preamp is only seeing
0.5vdc so there is a bad wire for the 13.8 vdc. I do see a rise in
noise when the 432 transverter is turned on with it looking at the antenna

So I think I am QRV for 2m/222/432 tonight. the 6m beam is broken
with the director element lose and slid almost out of the boom. It
will have to be taken down to be fixed. This is a ticklish prospect
requiring me to stand on top of the tower with safety rope tied to
the mast. I will not reinstall the 6m antenna on the mast but
end-mount it to the top of the tower (at 45-feet). This will not be
done for a few weeks (plan also to mount a single KLM 11-element yagi
- half of a 22C) for FM use.

I've decided to host a "shack visit" at the end of the Hamfest
(depart at 3:30pm - arrive at my house at 4:10pm); figuring about an
hour tour and 40-min back to Soldotna it will be 6:00pm. This does
no require RSVP so any and all are invited. We'll have coffee
available (or tea). No plans for food but there is a good pizza
place in Nikiski (Charlies).
