Was a bit "fuzzy brained" making utc computations from local time
last night. Should use the utc clock in my K3 for contesting -
duh! BTW be careful to enter exactly "Alaska VHF-Up Group" as the
ARRL computer will accept only that exact spelling. I made an error
by not using the hypen between VHF and Up and the contest robot sent
me an error message on my first attempt.

If you use the robot for entry and get an error it is easy to
resubmit by "copy-paste" all the entry into a new message and editing
the error(s). Be sure to enter your call sign in the subject line of
the message when you re-send to JanuaryVHF at arrl.org.

You should be receiving a copy of your log submittal by e-mail and
then a separate message from the arrl confirming your contest entry
(it looks like this):

As I indicated to Shannon, I am considering doing a rove to Diamond
Ridge (elev. 1100-feet above Homer, AK) in grid BO49 in the June VHF
Contest. I would operate 50/144/222/432/927.5/1296 from home on
Saturday and then operate as rover with:

50 dipole KX3 + 125w
144 3-elem yagi + KX3 + xvtr + 150w
432 6-elem yagi + KX3 + xvtr 25w
927.5 18-elem loop-yagi + 15w FM radio
1296 24-elem loop-yagi + KX3 + xvtr 25w (if I can get a 10-MHz
reference for portable use)
10,368 18-inch dish (30-dB) + KX3 + xvtr + 2.5w
* KX3 is new portable 10w (160-6m) radio just released by Elecraft (I
have one on order).

I have previously operated from Diamond Ridge with my FT-847 with
6m-100w/2m-50w/70cm-50w
grid BO49eq to (BP51dc Chugach SP parking lot) is 118.9 miles on
heading az= 33.2 (214.9)
