HI all:

Just a note in support of the "Big-City" Simplex Net. From a
beginning of testing 2m radios around the "city" (Anchorage), the net
has grown to encompassing bands from 6m to 33cm and reaching out to
both the MatSu Valley north of the city and also the Kenai Peninsula
to the southwest (approx. 70-mi).

The "Net" is held every Tuesday night at 8pm (local Alaska time)
starting out with check-ins on 146.52 FM. From there the net QSY's
to 144.200 USB, 223.50 FM, 446.00 FM and 432.200 USB. 927.5 FM is
not used by many but is included as it 52.525 FM and 50.125 USB. The
last frequency is the only one using Horizontally polarized antennas
(which is a world-wide standard).

Net Control is John, KL7CY, who is often assisted with relays by
Dave, KL7BX and Mike, KL6M who are up on the hillside above Anchorage
with superior radio paths to all areas. Ed, KL7UW, performs the same
for the Kenai Peninsula.

I thought it might be good to review this with the AK-VF Group. It
offers another time in the week for VHF/UHF activity
---------
NOTE: this week the AK-VHF Net on Saturday will be on 144.200 USB. I
am having what appears to be a TR relay hanging up on my tower so I
may lower the array to try to determine the problem. I may not have
use of the array for the net (or it will not be at full height). I
have a 10-dB vertical and 7-element yagi (at ten foot) on my
satellite tower that can be used but will not produce as big a signal.
