Good story, Steve.
Yes, back in the day CQ did not have a CW WAZ. That was added later on. Don’t recall when but it was sometime after their WAZ program was well underway.
K8NA was a good guy. A friend. Glad you mentioned him.
Fun to think back about those older QSO’s. I can still remember certain QSOs like it was yesterday, and QSLs from years ago, too.
