Thank you  - very useful information. Now checking my notes, I think 
there is one place that stands out of the noise sources. It is very 
strong, the closest one to me and exactly in the 6m beam heading. There 
are two houses there, so I can get close to the poles. After a trip like 
that, some kool-aid is needed to clear the head :-)

For that trip, I need to be prepared to do VHF. I think my handheld has 
the AM band that airplanes use, so that would be good. Need to hook up a 
small yagi to it. The rest of the potential places are such that I can't 
get there easily unless I start crawling under barbwire.
