Jon, what kind of antenna are you using? Give me a few days to get this tower raised, and I will be glad to try a QSO with you.  I've modded several uv-k5, and have given them all away. They are a good experimentors platform. I've used the egzumer firmware on the uvk-5 and received hf ft8 down to 17 meters as well as monitoring my transmit on 23cm.

I'm still playing with cw. This weekend, I modded a quansheng uv-k1 (cheap China ht)... i called cq a dozen times last night and never got anything back! Hihi! Is there anyone in the Searcy area looking for 2m cw?


My copy isn't great yet, just a product of lack of practice on my part
