[ADXA] BVRC Field Day World Premiere.

I’m envious of the BVRC CW crew. Not only 9 operators, but if you were
choosing up sides, probably the nine you would pick! Our CW crew
was…..me. We spent most of Saturday resolving interference problems, doing
a little mentoring and helping a member test some rigs, etc, and a lot of
just visiting. I got in a good hour on Sunday morning. I still made more
contacts than everyone else combined. I’m definitely going to show the
BVRC video to the club before next year.
It brings back memories of when Nick and I were sometimes joined by good
ops like W5VY, K0HIP, W5EN, and others. N5EE even joined us once. I’m
sure W5VYH was in there also when he lived here. We kept the rig on the
air about 24 hours, unless there was lightning in the area. A couple of
times, we cut that a little close, considering that we were using a 180
foot dipole with no ground. My old worthless laptop lost a USB port, but
fortunately, Nick’s K3 was OK.
I know Stan can build antennas in the dark, like the 6 EL wire yagi for 20M
he modeled, built, and hung on the tower after the regular yagi developed a
serious feedline problem. It ran EU just fine.
