I’m envious of the BVRC CW crew.  Not only 9 operators, but if you were choosing up sides, probably the nine you would pick!  Our CW crew was…..me.  We spent most of Saturday resolving interference problems, doing a little mentoring and helping a member test some rigs, etc, and a lot of just visiting.  I got in a good hour on Sunday morning.  I still made more contacts than everyone else combined.  I’m definitely going to show the BVRC video to the club before next year.

It brings back memories of when Nick and I were sometimes joined by good ops like W5VY, K0HIP, W5EN, and others.  N5EE even joined us once.  I’m sure W5VYH was in there also when he lived here.  We kept the rig on the air about 24 hours, unless there was lightning in the area.  A couple of times, we cut that a little close, considering that we were using a 180 foot dipole with no ground.  My old worthless laptop lost a USB port, but fortunately, Nick’s K3 was OK.

I know Stan can build antennas in the dark, like the 6 EL wire yagi for 20M he modeled, built, and hung on the tower after the regular yagi developed a serious feedline problem.   It ran EU just fine.

Kenny was late night op!  You should have seen Kenny and Stan build a 75m dipole in the dark!  I am not sure how that came about, but all the sudden I looked up and they are adding another section to one of the dipoles.  It worked, but not many one.  Stan is probably one of the most dedicated humans I have ever met!  That was also a nice memory I will never forget!

They really did a super job!  Also, there were a few others, N5EE also comes to mind!  K5DB was around to help Elmer some new folks.  It was great, but I am very biased!  I am sure I am missing/forgetting a few more!  73 de jay..

Below is video of BVRC Field Day.  Pretty proud of our local group.  There are a few easter eggs in this video.  Loved seeing Stan K5GO explain what morse code is.  Also, the usual FD storm made things interesting!
