I’ve noticed that some expeditions use software for digital modes that
counts multiple contacts for each “real” QSO. I’ve noticed this a lot with
the Rebel group expeditions but they’re not the only ones. I think it was
their T32 expedition that showed me with at least two FT8 contacts on every
band I worked them. The contacts were routine and I did not dupe them at
all. However, I had a definite good contact on 80M and didn’t make it into
their log. These dupes are always just seconds apart, so it is obvious the
software is getting multiple counts out of one QSO. It’s handy, I guess,
if you want to brag about already having 120,000 contacts!
A very high dupe percentage is probably often caused by this.
