I’ve noticed that some expeditions use software for digital modes that counts multiple contacts for each “real” QSO.  I’ve noticed this a lot with the Rebel group expeditions but they’re not the only ones.  I think it was their T32 expedition that showed me with at least two FT8 contacts on every band I worked them.  The contacts were routine and I did not dupe them at all.  However, I had a definite good contact on 80M and didn’t make it into their log.  These dupes are always just seconds apart, so it is obvious the software is getting multiple counts out of one QSO.  It’s handy, I guess, if you want to brag about already having 120,000 contacts!

A very high dupe percentage is probably often caused by this.

I may be the least educated/knowledgeable guy in the group. That may be why I don't know the answer to this.
There have been times when I wasn't sure of my contact, and it was an Expedition who wasn't going to confirm until they got back home, so I went for an "insurance contact". But not often.
---- I guess what I'm asking.... Why Some are 20% higher in dupes than others?
