That was probably either Dickie or Moritz Shollmeier, WA5EFL. Moritz was
also a prominent DX chaser in LR. He was known for climbing his tower in
the dark so his neighbors wouldn’t be upset. Sadly, he died way too soon,
in the 60’s or 70’s.
Moritz was a speaker at one of the first few ADXA meetings in LR. He was
another who had a very successful professional career in spite of
blindness. I don’t remember what it was, though - possibly insurance.
