[ADXA] some history from the ‘60’s

Stan, I remember very well WB5FMK from the 70’s. I was in college then and
not quite as active, but was on the air on some weekends and in the summer
break. I went into the Air Force in 74 and wasn’t very active for several
years. There was a good crop of young hams back in those days and you
were certainly one of them!
I had an HW-12 in my Impala and actually worked some DX with it. I parked
in an open area by the football field and worked a YV in a pileup on 75
SSB. I was yelling loud and gunning the engine to get another volt or two
to the finals.
Joel, that’s a good story about Dickie!
Many of you remember Ollie, K9GPN. Ollie used to tell us that “they” were
watching us through that little eye on the TV sets and we just laughed it
off as another ADXA eccentricity. Then years later, we noticed that we
were getting ads for things we had talked about in the living room, but had
not looked for on the internet. ADXA members are always ahead of the
times!
73,
Dennis/RZ
