Subject: Re: [ADXA] Angola from the ground
Back in Jan 2012, I ordered a Mosley 11 element beam. They said it would take 8-10 weeks. It came in 3 weeks later. I picked a nice weekend and assembled it on some shorty sawhorses on the ground. Ran a coax inside the house to see what it would hear. SWR looked good and I proceeded to work a couple ATNO DXCC's using "ground wave", I guess. Put it on a mast and dropped the mast through my 6' step ladder. Worked a bunch of new suff with it pointed South. It was a few weeks later before I could get a boom truck scheduled to get my old stuff down and this new monster up. SWR didn't change all that much from 0' to 32'. But I did have a rotator now.

So i spent part of this day weed eating and brush clearing where my new hex beam mast is going to be.
In the meanwhile, my bucket holding the temp short mast upright deteriorated. Tried some other options for mounting none of which worked. So I just left the antenna on the ground for. Came inside checking bands and saw D2UY on 12m.
Answered his CQ and completed the QSO! Hex beams on the ground are awesome!!! LOL
