[ADXA] J28MD 24911.0 FT8 1231z

The first multi-stream contact I heard was Don Miller on CW. He would send W5RZ W5JAY 5NN, then pause a second and send TU. I’ve seen KL9A and N6MJ and our own N5DX work some tremendous rates per hour on CW - probably over 400. I tried 2BSIQ one time and decided that I was barely up to any kind of SO2R operation at al.

I’ve gotta admit the multi-stream FT8 stuff confuses me, like how to tell whether they are working WSJT-X F/H or some other variation. George helped me with some of that, though. We have some real digital modes gurus in this area.

I’ve got a rig on digital modes with a 135 foot ladder line fed dipole and LDG tuner. I can usually work ‘em with that no matter what band. The other rig has better antennas and higher power for CW and SSB so I’m set up well to chase DeSoto points. The only problem is fishing, watching baseball games, doing POTA, etc. Those things keep my butt out of the DX’ing chair too much!

Dennis (RZ)

That is pretty amazing rate considering they're giving some folks an all-time new one that have marginal antennas. Like living in HOAs, Etc. I guess we can look at their post operation stats. Assuming they are on Club log?

I thought Dennis had them as well, but there was another station with a similar call right on top of him. However shortly after Dennis got them 30 m CW after them quitting on 40 CW. That contact was A- Okay for Dennis, but I didn't hear Dave Norris's contact. I love listening on the sidelines when ADXA members work them quick. Those big guns down in central Arkansas!

I like their instant gratification you work them all you have to do is look on the screen and you're in the log. What's really cool is you can see what bands and mode you have already worked them and look up and see what bands they're currently on.

When I see software modes being used at the expense of CW and SSB and RTTY which are “in” and very audible, that puts a bad feeling in the minds of many of us.

When signals are in the big + range, 5-6 QSOs per minute by SSB and CW ops is very fast, no waiting for 15 and 30 second rules etc. IIWII and it’s their $ on the ‘other end’ and their time.. But many are left out of QSOs if SSB and CW are no used much, especially when conditions are in and 5-6 Qs a minute can be made..
