[ADXA] fun weekend on ten meters

My take aways from my 1st 10m event...
My "Goal" was to complete WAS CW and Phone during this event...I needed SD, NE, CT and ID on CW and DE for Phone.  I got the majority of the states on 20m & 40m during the two Sweepstakes events earlier in the fall, but still had a few hanging...
Spent Friday and Saturday over at the White River and worked some stations CW remote...Was able to take advantage 10m being good well past dark for NA stations and got my needed states on CW several times each except for NE...
Came home Sunday and worked hard for 2 hours to find a DE station on phone - No Luck...(I had 4 DE's during SSB Sweepstakes so I thought for sure someone would be up)...
I spent the rest of the time bouncing back and forth from Phone to CW and finally found a NE station late Sunday...
It was fun and I wish I had been able to have more seat time and post a better score...
So far, the only confirmation is the one NE on CW...
Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed in the number of US stations that take part in these contests and DON'T upload to LoTW...This week, I went back thru my logs from the two Sweepstakes events and only around 60% have been confirmed so far on LoTW and those contests were almost a month ago.  Now I realize that my lack of skills in CW probably leads to more than my share of callsign busts, but the way I do S&P on CW is I will listen to the station running for several calls to make darn sure I am decoding his callsign right before I try and call...The interesting part is that about 50% of my foreign contacts from 10m have already confirmed in just 3 days...Frustrating to say the least...
On a good side note, my late nights watching 80m can slow down as I FINALLY got Hawaii to show up last week to complete my 5-Band WAS mixed...and he confirmed immediately ...
Now back to work on DX...

It was nice to have a good opening coincide with the contest. When I saw the post from Joel saying the band was already open to EU at 8:00 AM local, I jumped in.  That was nice - like 1980 coming back.  Well, not quite but getting there.
Also, in my 55+ years of ham radio before moving up to NWA I never got around to putting in for a plain WAS, much less 5BWAS.  And after moving, I found that I’d been reset to zero.  So that make me want to chase band-states a bit. I’m looking OK except for 15 and especially 10, which I rarely get on.  So it was nice to get some states. Sometimes the close-in ones are tough on ten so I was glad to get border states OK, TN and LA.
Yesterday I got my first new entity in ages, on 15 CW: 3D2AG/P.  Trying to figure out how to QSL. I gather he’s using paper logs and wants PayPal. Doesn’t say how much. I presume I’d PayPal with a message giving my call, time/date/frequency and mode?

Which was the last state for 10M WAS?  I loved having that last state for WAS honor in Vermont!

QSL 1983 Avanti I bought in 1984: the year I met Joel who was on a job at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant

I had a casual contest operation on 10M SSB trying to get DXCC on that band.  Worked 24 countries and of those which confirmed, I’ve added only one band counter!  Hung up at 93 on 10M and 97 on 40M for the moment toward 5BDXCC.

I heard from Didier, TX7G, that with along my3Y0PI card from 1994 to be Field Checked, my #331 QSL, Marquesas Island, has been mailed.  See you soon Roger!

Last time I uploaded a log it caused ADXA to go DOWN in the rankings.

Nonetheless, I'll keep uploading logs until someone tells me to stop.

I watched old movies on TV & operated S&P during the commercials.

I needed one state for WAS on ten. My goal was that one state. I got them twice.

Speaking of WAS, I wonder if Brazil has a WAS. I probably have all the Brazil states.

I had a BLAST. I love this Hobby.
