Pat,
I visited Red on Saturday along with Wes, AC5K, a fellow FOC member who relocated to the SW MO area not far from Springfield recently. We were able to replace Red’s remote tuner and reconnect his inverted L antenna.
Red grew up near me in Crawford county and was part of the same group of young hams including K5ALQ who my grandfather K5VRC elmered and participated in Field Days, Army MARS, and other activities in the early sixties.
I don’t believe Red was ever an ADXA member because he lived out of state most of his life. But he worked many stations all over the world from his QRO mobile stations over the years and inspired me to run CW mobile myself for almost 15 years.
73,
Stan
