[ADXA] Red, K5ALU

I have recently received updates from Ron, K5XK and Ken, KKALQ, about the
welfare of Roger "Red" Cranford, K5ALU.  A few years back Red was diagnosed
with Cancer and went through treatments. After several rounds of therapy he
was pronounced "Cancer Free".  Unfortunately, he was recently told his
Cancer had returned and had spread.  Red has decided to forgo additional
Chemotherapy treatments and has entered Hospice care at his home in
Springfield, MO.  Red has called and emailed many of his old Ham Radio
friends to say goodbye.  He communicated to Ron and Ken that he was trying
to touch base with all his old friends while he was still able.  

 

I don't recall Red being a member of ADXA but he well may have been in
earlier days.  He has many friends who are ADXA members. I had the pleasure
of working an all CW Field Day with Red and a bunch of "Old Fahrts" a few
years back.   Red is a great operator and has been very active over the
years. He is a member of the First Class Operators Club.  If you would like,
you can contact Red using his info on QRZ.com.  Ron, K5XK and John, AC5K
visited Red over the weekend and got his antenna back up.  Red has been
heard on 20M CW in the afternoons.
