Hi John,I get such a rush when that happens on FT8. Even tonight I was remoted into Jim K5JUC's computer to help him with a few issues he was having. We were trying to test some of the settings and call 1 station at a time. Then all the sudden Jim had more than his fair share of Russians calling him and on top of that, view Asian countries. In fact he worked Singapore at -24 S/N. I never printed that station here in Northwest Arkansas. On 17m you will find a lot of Italians calling you and also a lot of Japanese. Much the same on 15m even late at night. While helping JUC Jim I had six JAs calling me at the same time on 17m. I have always enjoyed 17m.Glad you're having fun with the new antennas. Your timing couldn't be more perfect you're going to really enjoy the ride. I am sure you will get Missouri very soon with your setup. Plus I can almost guarantee you when you get the first MO in the log then they will come in bunches. lol 73 JaySent from my Galaxy

I have debated sharing this but have decided to since I think it may provide a little levity. This past Monday, I was home taking a vacation day. Now that I have my tower and beams up, I have noticed that I have a lot of stations calling me when I transmit. I have to admit it is nice to be the ‘hunted’ versus always being the ‘hunter’.This past Monday, I had the beam aimed towards Europe and was sending CQ MO on FT8. I need MO for a new state on 17 and figured 45 degrees wasn’t off by too much to go from W TN to the north. To my surprise, after one CQ MO, I would be instantly called by multiple countries in EU. I would answer each one in order and get them in the log. Some of these countries I actually needed on 17. Later on, I would call CQ MO and it would happen again. The only entity that wasn’t answering my call was….well MO.Later in the afternoon, Steve (N4JQQ) and I were comparing signals between antennas and I told him about what had happened earlier in the day. I said something like ‘Watch This’ and sent CQ MO and it happened again. BTW…Still need Missouri on 17. A lot of EU and SV no longer needed. :). Maybe next time I’ll aim the beam due north and call CQ EU and see if I get a lot of MO stations.I thought this was funny. It may be common for you guys in AR. Not so much for TN. EM55 is nowhere near being the ‘P5’ of grid squares.JohnKT4ACSent from AT&T Yahoo Mail for iPhone
