Greetings ADXA Folks,

Its time, actually past time, for an update of a number of items:

 1. Obviously, we will not be conducting an in-person annual meeting.
This is disappointing as our annual meetings have been a excellent
source of technical information, DX news and socializing. Kim and I
along with VP Pat, W5VY, have very much enjoyed organizing these events
and we truly miss not being able to do so this year. We're confident
things will pass and we hope to, once again, be able to host an
in-person annual meeting in 2021!

There is only one important piece of business that we need to conduct
to remain in compliance with our Articles of Association and that is
election of officers and board members for 2021. The board discussed how
to proceed at length and reviewed a number of options and has decided to
place the existing officers and board in nomination for 2021. Now let me
VERY CLEAR, each and every one of the officers and board members are
very willing to step aside if there is someone who would like to hold an
ADXA office or board position. The "floor" is open for nominations now
so simply let it be known here. We will keep nominations open until
December 1 at which time we will "vote" on-line for those nominated.

 2. It is our projection that most likely the earliest we will be able
to hold an in-person meeting will be the 3rd quarter of next year. Let's
hope things progress that well. If by some miraculous occurrence that
changes for the better we will evaluate the situation and seek your
input on the best path forward for ADXA members regarding an in-person
meeting.

 3. Glenn has done a superb job of keeping our newsletter flowing even
in the absence of in-person meetings. Please try to send him something
for the upcoming newsletter, even if you just want to talk (or brag!)
about what DX you have worked this year. Or did you throw up an antenna
for a new band? Send the details and send some photos. Tell us about it.
Hey Lanny, K1LEC - send Glenn the photo of your new Hexbeam along with
the details. N5QS and K5EJ - you had antenna/tower projects and I know
you have photos! Let's hear from you, anyone and everyone.

 4. We are extremely pleased to see that our reflector continues to be
active. This is keeping us connected. Sure, not everyone is interested
in ALL of the traffic that comes across but it is good to have folks
passing along info. The spots that are passed are extremely beneficial
as well. A recent example is W5VY's post about JD1-M. Not only did that
push Pat over the Honor Roll line but it alerted N4JQQ and W5JAY to drag
themselves out of bed in the wee hours of the following mornings and
snag a new one!!! Hey! DX'ing is NOT an armchair/warm bed sport!!!!!
:-))

 5. During a recent "generic" discussion about DXpedition funding Roger,
N5QS, offered the idea that we should require DXpeditions that we fund
to upload our member's Q's to LoTW at the same time they do for
individual DXpedition donors. This make sense to me and I believe it is
something we should consider. No action required right now but think
about this and let's discuss it further when we meet in-person.

6. Dues - I honestly feel like a bill collector or a donation solicitor
but this topic needs to be mentioned. The time is fast approaching for
you to renew your ADXA membership. We have already had several do so.
What makes this particularly sensitive for me is that you may not feel
you have received any benefit from ADXA this year. I can't argue that
point but would offer that you think about what benefits you have
received from other organizations or affiliations you're involved with
this year. No many I'm sure and that is of no fault to any of them. So,
as an ADXA member you still have access to our reflector. You still have
access to other ADXA members that share an interest you have in amateur
radio. There will come a time, very soon, when DXpeditions will be
flourishing once again and I predict once the world opens up we will be
flooded with funding requests. If several requests come in that meet our
criteria for funding we want to be able to support them at some level
and that will benefit you, the ADXA member. We won't be able to do so if
everyone decides not to renew as there will be an impact on our treasury
balance that will hinder our level of support.

So, if you haven't done so already please seriously consider renewing
your ADXA membership. It is very easy to do so on-line via our website
or you can simply drop a check in the mail to Glenn if you prefer.

Thanks again to everyone for your support of ADXA. We are an
outstanding group of radio amateurs with not only a primary interest in
DX but an interest in maintaining a technical advantage in our stations,
regardless of size, and adhering to a high standard of ethics as well.

 73, GL es DX
