Duking it out is a great way to describe it Joel! With 100 watts and my compromise antenna I managed to work 7 new countries while going to the loo! 😊 Seriously, that total is fairly easy for me since I just started this 6m deal 1 year ago. I was also watching the guys that has a better setup to see how they fared and they did very well! I know that if I had a better setup or just a little more ERP I could have easy worked 20-30 new ones on 6m! Still I was tickled pink, but left wanting more.

So this just confirms radio theory again, even with "FT8" the better antenna system and the more power you run, the better the success rate! I should have been able to work every DX station that was -13 (assuming they are running high power) or above that signal strength. Still that didn't happen. In a perfect world one can work a ton of DX with a modest station, but yesterday was anything like that. Still it was exciting to me!! I called and texted many buds of mine alerting them to what was going on. Most of them already in the chase!

For me it was work all day long, with this low ERP power setup. I would click on anyone that had a S/N over S0 or above. They were NOT hard to find, even in Europe! Even that didn't work, plus to add to the confusion many stateside guys calling me at the same time and being on the phone with the doctor's office, etc. So today's mission is to work as many green stations and get them grayed out, hi. It was interesting to watch these EU stations working a pileup while I was calling, I sure was printing them out! Even late into last night!!

What a blast!! 73 de w5jay/jay..
