I could count the number of 6m contacts I've had in my ham career
probably on both hands - but I will say that I have a 6m ssb QSL from
Ducie Island (VP6) - but that's another story.
Got back from Denver on Friday and remembered the contest for the
weekend. Saturday morning searched through the garage for some
antenna wire and found the homemade 40m antenna I used on
Lord Howe. Cut it down to 6m size and mounted in on my roof in
Inverted V fashion probably with the apex up around 25 ft oriented
east/west. Hooked it up to the Icom 7300 and decided to see what I
could hear. Managed causal operating over the contest in between house
showings (for sale for eventual move to Denver area). Had 96 contacts
(SSB-25, CW-22, FT8-49) with 25 states. Furthest West: CA/OR, North:VE4,
South: XE1, East: NH/MA. Didn't hear any SE further than AL nor any
along East coast (VA/NC/SC/FL). Did hear our Prez - The Big Kahuna -W5ZN
decoded on FT-8 running a pile-up but no joy with me calling. I guess
Rick K5UR wasn't on (??) as I'm sure I would have heard him!
Anyway, lots of fun for my first VHF Contest! Rick AI5P
