Our reflector still works, however chatter here has been dead since the
first of the year!!!
OK, I'll confess I've been busy and focused on a number of things,
mostly amateur radio and haven't been barking much here but I have been
on the air, predominately 160 meters. Condx have been very gud on the
low bands, just not anything I need but I'm on HOT STBY if something
shows up!!
I did run in the CQWW 160 meter CW contest this past weekend. Thanks to
all of you ADXA folks that gave me a Q. I entered in the SOHP
non-assisted category. It was quite refreshing to be able to simply pay
attention to the radio rather than the internet, clusters, skimmers and
all that poop. Right now according to 3830 I'm sitting #9 USA in the
category with I'm ecstatic about sitting out here in fly over USA away
from the east coast. You always sit back after the contest and identify
things you could have done differently to improve your score and that
was the case once again here at W5ZN. I finished with 1270 Q's, 57
states/provinces and 64 DXCC countries for a claimed score of 605,605
(yea, I didn't plan that but pretty neat huh?).
Our 1st Quarterly Meeting of 2020 will be held March 7 in Russellville,
AR at the ARRL Delta Division Convention & Russellville hamfest. Our
program will be a presentation by Bill Priakos, W5SJ on the TX7T
DXpedition. Not exactly sure of the time yet however we'll get that
arranged with the hamfest folks over the next few days. We will plan to
have our business meeting AFTER the program.
Our 2nd Quarterly Meeting will be held Saturday June 20 at a location to
be determined. Our program will on FT8 presented by John Evans WB5BHS.
And, while we're talking programs, if you missed our annual conference
in Springdale this past December EJ, K5EJ, will be presenting his
"DX'ing on a Budget" presentation at the North Central Arkansas Amateur
Radio Society meeting in Searcy on Thursday February 13 at 7:00 PM. If
you are interested in attending let me or N5QS know and we'll give you
directions to the location at the Gum Springs Fire Department's
Emergency Operations Facility.
I need to get our website updated with the 2020 meeting info and some
other details so that is forthcoming.
AND!!!!!! if you have not yet paid your 2020 ADXA dues please do so.
The membership list will be updated this next week.
A couple of excellent DXpeditions coming up in Tanzania and a second one
to E4 Palestine. You know what to do!
