I’ve corresponded with Jonathan, Andre, Roger, Lee, and Bill - many thanks to all! The local ham is another Dennis, KG5WTU. He is a sharp guy and good ham, just needs help with tower erection. I’ll pass all the info on to him and when things settle down a little, he’ll get started.
He’s bought a Ham IV rotator, so he is serious about getting it done. I think he can go 30 feet above a building, so if he brackets it to an outbuilding, he can probably go up 40 feet or so. Bill offered Hexbeam advice, which we gladly took advantage of, and if anyone else has experience or tips about these antennas, including pros/cons of different brands, let me know. They look complicated and fragile to me, but I think some of them are not bad to put together and they would probably tend to “bend but not break”. If pieces did break, it might be easier to repair than some aluminum antennas.
73,
Dennis
