Hello fellow ADXA members -
Once again, it's that time of the year when Arkansas will be in the amateur
radio world spotlight on Saturday, May 9, for the annual Arkansas QSO Party.
Each year we continue to have newcomers explore operating in our annual
event, and each year we see them come back to have a lot of fun and sharpen
their operating skills. For the past 10 years, the ARQP has had more
participants than the year before.
Have you given the ARQP a try? I realize most of you are avid DXers and do
not necessarily participate in contests. However, with the current pandemic
situation and many of you wishing to remain in your homes, here is a great
activity to pass the time. The ARQP occurs once a year for 12 hours, from
9am-9pm local Central Daylight Time (1400Z on Saturday May 9 - 0200Z on
Sunday May 10.)
Many outside-Arkansas hams will be tuning and listening for Arkansas
stations to contact to add to their Worked-All-States list, grid square
list, counties list, etc.
All the information you need - rules, operating tips, etc. - can be found on
the OPERATING AIDS tab of the ARQP website, along with results from past qso
parties, news and updates, etc.

NOTE: With the current coronavirus issue at hand, we suggest that all
participants follow these guidelines:
* Due to the seriousness of the coronavirus outbreak, we encourage
operation from home for this year's event. We also encourage everyone to
abide by and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and
restrictions pertaining to the coronavirus.
* If any operators do make the decision to operate mobile, rover, or
portable, be advised that you will be doing this of your own volition, and
that you will be submitting yourself to increased exposure and possible
spreading of the coronavirus. If you do decide to operate in any of these
categories, be sure to follow all federal, state, and local regulations
concerning the coronavirus.
* For the Multi-Operator category, we are amending the rules to
accommodate safety and well-being for any operators wishing to participate
in this division, and to encourage home operation:
* Arkansas Multi-Operator stations will be allowed to operate from
multiple QTHs as long as all stations are located in the same AR county and
give the same county report.
* Outside-Arkansas Multi-Operator stations will be allowed to operate
from multiple QTHs as long as all stations are located in the same state and
give the same state report.
This rule change for the 2020 ARQP is intended to allow operators of
Multi-Operator stations to each operate from their home QTH while still
being able to enter the Multi-Operator category. NOTE: Stations operating
in this category will need to share log data to avoid DUPEs. Be mindful of
only having one transmitted signal on any given mode/band combination at a
time, and submit a single, combined log.
ALL OTHER RULES FOR THE 2020 ARQP WILL REMAIN THE SAME.
And..after the Arkansas QSO Party is over, be sure and submit your log
entry! Instructions on how to send-in your log can be found in the ARQP
rules here:

We hope that these changes will provide you with fun, excitement - and
safety - to your day on May 9.
Hope to C U all on ARQP Day!
73! - Don, K5DB - ARQP Chairman
