[ADXA] Great to hear you in there chasing, Rory.

Great news on the TO8 QSOs, Rory.. I never worked them on 21mc and only heard weakly one day.
Whether one has 10 band/modes or just one QSO makes no difference; it’s a personal hobby … It is the chase that counts and at least putting the DX in your log and doing “your” thing. LOL I would hope each ADXA member can get at least one SSB and one CW QSO in the log of all DXpeditions, plus a digital mode if you are ‘into’ that.

The DX leader board top 100 (NA or Zone 4 only) is fun to watch for those ADXA members who have the time ( usually retired ) to work DX all hours of the day. It’s overall fun and makes the chase more intense.. It’s not bad to pound your chest once in a while, at least for a particular DXpedition chase, only to get your butt beat badly the next.. I try to work a DXpedition on each mode once and then quit … unless I need them for a few new band-modes.

On the DX Summit site, there is a top 100 ladder for ARRL members, NCDXC, ADXA and other entities you may belong to. I occasionally view that to see how I stand against my NCDXC or ARRL members. One has to plug in your group affiliation and the ladder is automatically applied. Not all DXers use that extra link on the DX Summit website.
Again, great on the TO8 Qs. In 4 more days the pileups will be INTENSE for Pitcairn Island.

I agree with your thoughts completely San.  The Bouvet DXpedition was a very sad situation for all.  I did manage to work TO8 on 20 and 17 CW.  I am happy with that. On to the next one :-)

TU Steve and Rory for comments. I just feel sorry for the DXer who chases and chases and spends money on pre-trip donations and/or for QSL card return and then nothing comes back to the ones who might work someone and need for an ATNO. The complaints on the Rebel site clearly show lack of post trip communications and lack of paper QSLs they paid for. ARRL sorta forces the LoTW timely updates of DXpeditions.
ETC ETC
