EJ, K5EJ, got his end of year application approved and added more countries
on the low bands. He is closing in on 300 confirmed on 80M and 2772 on the
Challenge Award.

Earl, N5ZM, also added a couple on 160M and 80M to bump his totals to 182
and 280 respectively. Earl's Challenge total is now at 2867.

Congratulations to Richard Daily, KB5FLA, who just achieved his mixed
SSB/CW DXCC! Great job Richard....bottom of the Solar Cycle!

Despite being at the bottom of the cycle there are still surprises. In
early November Janusz, SP9FIH, operated from Palestine as E44WE. I worked
him on 30M RTTY and did a OQRS request for the QSO. Early one morning a
few days later I was surprised to hear him on 15M SSB with a great
signal...S5 or better. Got the card today and he had added the 15SSB QSO.
Also, the winter Es season is still going on. Last Thursday, Jan 3rd,
there was a 6M multihop Es opening to the Pacific. I snagged NH6Y on FT8
around 7:00pm local. At that time west coast stations were working VKs
using FT8 and JT65 (50.276). I didn't hear any VKs but the path from the
west coast held up for quite a while. One of those unpredictable, wacky 6M
happenings!

Bernie, W3UR, will be V47UR for the next couple of weeks. If you hear him
on give him a shout from the ADXA!

73,
Pat, W5VY
